Faith groups could facilitate Asukume programmes in their communities or simply arrange volunteers to serve as mentors.

The decision on the role a church plays is entirely up to them and largely a function of various factors, including the the vision and budget of the church, the needs of the community and the nature and number of volunteers.

The role of the church (mentors) in the typical Asukume programme is relatively limited (both in budget and duration). Mentors are essentially required for those candidates that complete the programme with solid business plans.

he role of these mentors is to help entrepreneurs to refine their business plans and prepare them for handover to Asukume who will help prepare the jockeys for the next steps of the programme, such as obtaining start-up or enterprise development funding.
